eDetective
Identify protected data within your unstructured data easily, using our customizable, rule based, file scanning application. eDetective supports a number of different file formats, including:
- Office suite files (Microsoft® Office, Open Office, etc.)
- Document files (.doc, .docx, .odt, etc.)
- Spreadsheet files (.xls, .xlsx, .ods, etc.)
- Presentation files (.ppt, .pptx, .odp, etc.)

Rules can be defined using either Regular Expressions, or be programatically customized to suit whatever dictionary or business logic is required.
Using Active Directory® Group Policies, organizations can mandate the rule set used by individuals, allowing either an holistic rule-set, or apply specific rules to specific groups or roles within your organization. Offline users, will be able to scan using the last ruleset that was imposed by the policy.
Stand-alone users are able to customize the scope of the scan, selecting one or more types of files to be scanned (e.g. document and spreadsheet files), as well as the ability to exclude files greater than a certain size, or set a timeout for scans that might take too long.
